OAKLAND COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY SALT LAKE CITY RESEARCH TRIP

DATES:          April 9-17, 2013 (Tuesday-Wednesday)

HOTEL:          Salt Lake Plaza Hotel at Temple Square – next door to Family History Library (FHL)

Hotel package per person: $821 single occupancy; $438 double; $362 triple (1 rollaway)

INCLUDES:   8 nights lodging; luggage handling at hotel; driver & skycap gratuities (for those traveling with main group); transportation between SLC airport and hotel; bellman gratuities; library orientation; “get acquainted” breakfast (April 10); work/study-room all day Sunday with afternoon snacks; donation to FHL.

AIRFARE: To be determined or on your own (separate fee).

RESEARCH FACILITIES:

FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY:  Mon 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tues-Sat 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sun closed. The collection includes: over 2.4 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records; 727,000 microfiche; 356,000 books, serials, and other formats; 4,500 periodicals; 3725 electronic resources. The Library has 142,000 square feet on 5 floors for patron research with:

FAMILYSEARCH CENTER at Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sat 9-5; Sun closed:  FamilySearch software on 100 individual computers with access to the Internet for family history research. Staff available for one-on-one assistance free of charge.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES (no charge): Organ recitals; Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearsal (Thurs) and live broadcast (Sun); Youth Symphony; area museums; classes at FHL; tours of local historic sites, Temple Square, and Conference Center including roof gardens; free public transportation in downtown area.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES (extra charge):  Tours of Salt Lake City, Great Salt Lake and area sites; Kennecott Copper Mine; day trip to Casino (via bus); individual consultation with professional researcher at Family History Library; restaurants/shopping at Gateway Plaza and other locations – walk/free Trax ride.

ALTERNATE DATES: April 7-14, 2013 (Sunday-Sunday, 7 nights). Limited # of rooms available. Airfare/travel on your own. Single $720, double $385, triple $323.

Please list roommate(s) on form.  Forms do not have to be sent in together but it is your responsibility to secure enough roommates to receive rate listed. If requested, we will attempt to accommodate those wishing to be assigned a roommate. However, we cannot guarantee availability of roommate(s) or compatibility, if assigned.

A confirmation will be sent upon receipt of reservation form and deposit.  An invoice for remaining fees will be sent in January with additional trip information.  Deposit fully refundable upon written request on or before January 31, 2013. Final payment is due March 2, 2013.
