The Oakland County (Michigan) Genealogical Society was founded in 1977 and is a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. Donations, gifts and legacies are deductible.
The Society shall promote and encourage an interest in genealogy and related fields among its members and the general public.
The objectives of the Society shall be to locate, publish, and safeguard public and private genealogical records and to encourage and instruct in the science of genealogical research and compilation through workshops, sharing, and other educational means.
Members receive our 32 page Quarterly, Acorns to Oaks, which contains transcriptions of Oakland County records, information about Oakland County and Michigan research, and information about the Society, and research hints. You may join my mail or online on the Join Page.
OCGS QUARTERLY – ACORNS TO OAKS: Acorns to Oaks is published in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. It is distributed by 3rd class bulk mail which is non-forward able. Please notify the Society of address changes and dates for seasonal addresses. Neither the Society nor the Editor assumes responsibility for error of fact or opinion made by the contributors. Publishing only reliable genealogical information is our intent. The staff reserves the right to make the final decision as to what is published. SUBMISSIONS: Submission of unpublished source material, special contributions, and articles from members and the public is encouraged and should be sent to the Editor. Of particular interest are Bible records, research tips, and anecdotes or material relating to the history and people of Oakland County.
All materials submitted for publication should be sent by email to the editor at Qeditor@ocgsmi.org. Material that has been previously published and is covered by copyright laws must be accompanied by complete source data and written permission to reprint. Items contributed for publication consideration become the property of OCGS. Deadlines for receiving material are the first of October, January, April and July for the following issue.
